Mother 3

I've always found it interesting when watching people progress though a good game, so I'm going to blog through my progress of this fascinating game. Mother 3 is the third installment of the Earthbound/Mother series, a "Strange, Funny and Heartrending" (according to Wikipedia, that's the slogan for the games. News to me...) series developed by HAL Laboratory. It's so full of quirky charm, it is an RPG that really stands out to me. The slogan hits the nail on the head. Another interesting fact is Gamerankings, a site which takes averages of all big reviewer's scores for each game, scored Mother 3 higher than Final Fantasy VII. That's how good it is.

To summarise the plot in case you've not been through the game, yet for some reason want to read my journal through the game...
I've finished the first three chapters, and have just got to what seems like the start of the bulk of the adventure. The game started with Lucas and his family coming back from holiday, when the mother of the family, Hinawa, passes away, and Lucas' twin (Claus) has gone missing looking to avenge her death. Soon after, a race of soldiers known as 'Pig masks' are wrecking havoc. One commander is known at this time; Mr. Fassad. Lucas, Flint, a theif called Duster, a princess called Kumatora, a monkey rescued from Fassad known as Salsa and Lucas' dog, Boney go on their seperate ways to counter the evasion, and all meet at the end of chapter 3. Time has advanced three years and everyone has split up again. Now that brings us to Chapter 4.

Chapter 4, I am controlling Lucas. Everythings changed in 3 years, and everyone has these TV-like things known as Happy Boxes and Fassad is giving them to people. Also for some bizarre reason, Pig Masks are friendly. It's all rather odd. I've re-met with Kumatora and now we're looking for Duster; I'm stuck in the attic of a club looking for him. Loads of fucking enemies are attacking me in this place, it's really quite annoying. Worst thing is, they're often killing me too... guh.

That's Duster. He's got a big face.

Minus Duster, that's who's in my party at the moment. Fun picture.
